Art Deco Motifsby Richard Bullows (richardbullows)
How I WISH I could draw these sorts of patterns. Somebody seems to get this guy to help out with some building facades stat! :)

This appears to be my speciality just lately, hand drawn Art Deco style motif designI designed these a couple of months ago for a friend studying Fashion at Falmouth College as part of a packaging project relating to British aesthetic. I associate traditional British aesthetic with high society and country pursuits and all the elements it involves, tweed and wax jackets, horse racing, game shooting, fox hunting etc. which in turn reminds me of the 1920’s and 30’s and there you have your link to Art Deco design

Architectural Illustration by Hugh Ferris
Much as I love these drawings, super-structures like these are pretty poor urban form when built out and often come at the expense of true urban fabric.
A good example of this is Empire State Plaza in Albany, NY, which is fantastic (think Brazilia… in upstate New York) but which took out dozens and dozens of blocks of historic Albany, created a single-use neighborhood and is hot/freezing and lonely if you’re a pedestrian.
